Manana Rebuild Page 4

It was about this time that I started to get real excited and was ready to drive this bus again. It had been a long winter and I was anticipating hearing MY engine run for the first time. As this was my first rebuild ever, I was stoked.
Installing distributor drive gear with a NOS tool

Dave Ireland adjusting the hydraulic valves

Checking the Bentley for specs on something. That book is a must have.

Ready for tin and the fuel injection to be installed

Bosch L-Jetronic FI ready for cleaning
My AFM (left) was boogered, so I replaced it with a known good (right)

Here she is in flat black paint ready to be mated with the tranny
and again
Oh boy, oh boy.....
Took me 3 times to get it in as I forgot to install the throw out bearing the first time, then the clutch wasnt aligned perfectly. Third time it slipped right in and I bolted everything up.
My bus having a snack..

DONE!

I went to start it and it wouldnt fire for near 30 minutes. I was near the end of my rope when i found a loose wire that was labeled "Coil +"

Did that and it fired right up. I adjusted the timing and idle and then broke the cam in.

Then I drove it.....damn.....I did it
